Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Rwanda Uganda Safari
Day 1: Pick up in Kigali – Transfer To Uganda – Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Your Rwanda Uganda safari starts with pick up at 08:30 am from your hotel in Kigali and head out for a Kigali City Tour with a visit to Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kimironko Market and later drive to Uganda with border crossing at Cyanika Border. Enjoy lunch along the way as you head to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park with scenic views of the terraced rolling hills. Arrive in the park in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Tracking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park – Transfer to Bwindi Forest
Wake up early for breakfast, head to the park headquarters for golden monkey trekking. A senior ranger guide will brief you about the golden monkey trekking experience, dos and don’ts among others. In groups of 8 people you will head into the forested park looking for the endangered golden monkeys living in the bamboo section.
The trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours depending on the movement of the golden monkeys, you will spend one hour with the golden monkeys watching them play, feed and pick bamboo shoots they have been feeding. Trek back to the starting point, meet your driver guide and return to your lodge for lunch. Later you will check out of the lodge and embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park arriving in the evening, check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest and Batwa Trail
Your day starts early with breakfast, and head to the park for gorilla trekking experience, together with other visitors you will have a briefing session in which a senior ranger guide will take you through the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head to into the forest searching for mountain gorillas.
The trek takes approximately 2 to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Once you locate the gorilla family, you will spend one hour of watching them as they go about their daily life in the forest. Later trek back to the starting point, meet your driver guide and return to your lodge for a short rest. In the later afternoon you will head to the Batwa Community for cultural experience, here you will be entertained by local dances and drama, visit the local medicine man and interact with the community elders for a more insight into their culture, traditional and past life in the forest.

Day 4: Transfer to Ishasha Sector – Queen Elizabeth National Park and Proceed to Kibale Forest
Enjoy an early breakfast, check out of your lodge and journey to Kibale Forest National Park with a classic game drive in the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will see the rare tree climbing lions, lounging on fig trees. You will also see other animals including lions, leopards, cape buffaloes and do a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel for close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, elephants and buffaloes and water birds.
After the cruise, you will embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park – the primate capital of the world.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and Afternoon Bigodi Swap Walk
Wake up early for breakfast, and head to the park for briefing about chimpanzee trekking. After briefing you will head into the forest search for chimpanzees, trek through the lush rainforest to observe these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat, witnessing their social interaction and behaviors up close.
In the afternoon, take a guided walk through the Bigodi Swamp, a biodiverse wetland sanctuary teeming with unique flora and fauna including various bird species, monkeys and butterflies. This immersive experience highlights the ecological richness and beauty of Kibale Forest, offering memorable encounter with nature’s wonders.
