This Rwanda Uganda combined safari takes you on an African safari journey to East Africa’s incredible safari destinations – Uganda and Rwanda for encounter with primates that is gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park and chimpanzees in Kalinzu Forest, as well as wildlife in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Detailed Itinerary of 7 Days Rwanda Uganda Gorilla and Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative (your driver-guide) and transfer you to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After a delicious breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and go for a Kigali City Tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Here, over 256,000 victims of the Rwandan Genocide in 1994 were laid to rest as a sign of respect to their bodies. Then drive to the Volcanoes National Park, the home of mountain gorillas.
Along the way you will have stops for photos, arrive at your lodge in afternoon for lunch. Later go for visit to Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn about the history, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Bwindi Forest
After a delicious breakfast, you will be picked up by our safari driver-guide and transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing. Then set off into the jungle in search for these beautiful primates, the trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours depending on the movement of golden monkeys. Spend one hour with the golden monkeys watching them play, feed and groom each other.
Later, you will return to your lodge for lunch and then embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with border crossing at Cyanika Border. Arrive in the afternoon, check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as you prepare for the next day’s exciting activity.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest and Batwa Cultural Experience
Enjoy an early breakfast, then after head to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. A senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the gorillas and the right way to behave.
In groups of 8 people, head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2 to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Spend one hour in their presence watching female gorillas take care of their babies, juveniles playing and feeding among others.
Return to your lodge for a short rest, later head to the Batwa Community for a cultural experience. Here you will be entertained by local dances and drama, interact with the elders and get a taste of the local meals. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will transfer to Ishasha Sector – the Southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here you will see the rare tree climbing lions lounging on tree branches. Continue to your lodge for check-in and lunch.
In the afternoon you will return to the park for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, as you sail you see several herds of elephants and buffaloes, water animals like hippos and Nile crocodiles and water birds on the shores of the lake. At sunset, return to your lodge for diner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kalinzu Forest and Game Drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, drive to Kalizu Forest for chimpanzee trekking experience. After briefing from a ranger, head into the forest looking for chimpanzees and if you are lucky you will see other primate species including colobus monkey, olive baboon and red tailed monkeys.
Then you will drive back to your lodge for lunch, in the afternoon you will go for a game drive in the Kasenyi Plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Be on a lookout for elephants, lions, leopards, Uganda kobs among other animals. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Departure
After breakfast, you will embark on a journey back to Kigali City with border crossing at Kyanika Border. Enjoy lunch in Kigali and later be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home or to your next destination.
