Detailed Itinerary of 12 Days Discover Kenya Safari
Day 1: Nairobi – Tsavo West National Park
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and transfer to Tsavo West National Park. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge after check-in and in the afternoon go for a game drive in search for the big game like elephant, rhino, hippos, cheetahs, leopards, buffaloes and diverse bird species. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Tsavo West – Tsavo East National Park
Enjoy breakfast, check out of your lodge and transfer to Tsavo East for a more extensive game drive. Enjoy an afternoon game drive exploring the savannah plains of Tsavo East in search for wildlife.
Day 3: Full Day in Tsavo East National Park
Wake up early for an early morning game drive in Tsavo East National Park to catch up with the predators on hunt and other game like elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, leopards, zebras among others. Later enjoy breakfast and relaxation around the lodge. In the afternoon o for long evening game drive in search for what we missed in the morning game drive like the large herds of dust-red elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hippos, waterbucks, lesser kudu, gerenuk and the prolific bird life with over 500 recorded species.
In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Taita Hills Sanctuary
Wake up early for breakfast, check out of your lodge and drive to the Taita Hills Sanctuary, a sufficiently isolated to develop endemic forms and birders which come from far to see the Tiata Olive Thrush and the Taita White-eye. Enjoy lunch at your lodge after check-in, and have a rest. In the afternoon go for a game drive in search for birds and animals around the park. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and leave Taita Hills for Amboseli National Park arriving in the late morning and proceed with a game drive. After lunch at your lodge, you will go for an afternoon game drive in Amboseli National Park which lies at the floors of Mount Kilimanjaro, expect to see lions, elephants, cheetahs, buffaloes that can be seen at the swamp area and open plains.
Day 6: Full Day in Amboseli National Park
Wake up early for cup of coffee, and head to the park for an early morning game drive. Later return back to the lodge for full breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a game drive in search for its popular residents like the well-known predators and their prey like zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, hippos with a remarkable view of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Day 7: Amboseli – Aberdares National Park
After breakfast, depart for Aberdare National Park for another game drive searching for more wildlife. On arrival you will head to your lodge for check in at your lodge for lunch, in the afternoon go for a game drive, keep an eye out for several wildlife species such as herds of elephants and buffaloes, leopards, rhinos among others. In the evening you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Aberdare – Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and go for en-route game drive as you leave Aberdare for Lake Nakuru National Park which is a journey of 5 hours passing through the Great Rift Valley Escarpment. Arrive in time for lunch, later in the afternoon go for a game drive.
Day 9: Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha
Wake up early for breakfast and go for en-route game drive as you leave for Lake Naivasha. Proceed to your lodge for lunch and check inn. Later in the afternoon go for a game drive to visit the Hell’s Gate National Park for hiking, mountain bike ride, rock climbing and photographing the wildlife and visit the geothermal power plant. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara National Reserve
Wake up early for breakfast and embark on a journey to Masai Mara National Reserve with a drive through the Maasai villages experiencing the African wildlife. On arrival in the reserve, you will head to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a game drive through the reserve’s savannah in search for several wildlife species such as buffaloes, gazelles, wildebeests, zebras, elands, lions, leopards, elephants and several bird species among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 11: Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara
Spend a full day in Masai Mara National Reserve on morning and afternoon game drives. Your ranger-guide will lead you to some of Africa’s largest lion prides, herds of zebras, antelopes, buffaloes, wildebeests, giraffes, cheetahs, and hyenas among others. Then return to the lodge for lunch.
Later go for another game drive in the Masai Mara plains which are full of wildebeest during migration season early July to end of September. Zebras, impalas, topis, giraffes, Thomson’s gazelles are regularly seen, leopards, lions, hyenas, cheetahs, jackal and bat-eared foxes.
In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 12: Departure
After breakfast, depart for Nairobi arriving in time for lunch at Carnivore Restaurant. Afterwards you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home or to your next destination.
