Mgahinga national park is the only place in Uganda where you will find the Golden monkeys and is the second home for the endangered mountain gorillas. You will also visit Lake Bunyonyi the second deepest Lake in Africa and the deepest in Uganda.

Detailed itinerary of 4 Days Mgahinga Gorillas, Golden monkey and Lake Bunyonyi safari
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Mgahinga Gorilla national park, Kisoro
Upon arrival at Entebbe International airport or after breakfast at your hotel, you will be met by your safari driver guide and after a short safari briefing you will embark on a journey to Mgahinga Gorilla national park in Kisoro district in south western Uganda.
The journey from Kampala to Kisoro is about 8-9 hours and along the way you will have lunch in Mbarara and a stopover at the Equator for pictures. Arrive in the park in late afternoon, check into your lodge and rest for the evening. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla trekking
Have early morning breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking experience, the briefing is conducted by an experienced ranger – guide who will take you through the rules and regulations to follow during the experience or while in the presence of the gorillas.
Then be grouped into 8 people and trek into the forests of Mgahinga looking for mountain gorillas, the trek takes about 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and after locating them. You will spend one hour in their presence while observing their behavior which is similar to human, you can also take pictures as long as your flashlight is off.
After the trek, you will head back to the lodge for an evening of resting or to the Batwa community for a local experience on which you will get an insight into the local lifestyle of these pygmy people. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Golden monkey tracking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Have early morning breakfast and head to the park for the adventurous golden monkey tracking experience, before trekking into the forests of Bwindi you will have briefing at the park’s headquarters. In the briefing a ranger will take you through the rules and regulations to follow, then hike into the forests looking for golden monkeys.
You find the golden monkeys in the bamboo vegetation and you will be amazed watching them play on bamboo trees, picking bamboo shoots which they eat as food and take amazing pictures as long as your flashlight is off. You will then trek back and head to your lodge for lunch, in the afternoon you will checkout and embark on a journey to Lake Bunyonyi a beautiful and 2nd deepest lake in Africa named after a local world small birds.
Arrive in the late afternoon, check into your lodge and rest for the evening, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi and transfer back to Kampala
Have early breakfast and head to the lake for a boat cruise on which you will explore several islands found in the lake, some of these islands include Akampene Island or the punishment island, Bushara Island, Kahugye Island among others. Each of these islands have a wonderful legend behind it which will be passed on to you during the boat cruiser, you will aso enjoy watching several species of birds and animals living on these islands.
After the boat cruise, you will embark on a journey back to Kampala, along the way you will have lunch in Mbarara and when you reach Kampala, you will be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight back home.
