Highlights of 10 Days Rwanda Classic Safari
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to your hotel in Kigali
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport – Kigali City, our guide will welcome you and then transfer you to Kigali City and depending on the time of your arrival, you will go for a short city tour with-in Kigali City and visit the genocide memorial site.
Dinner and overnight at Steptown Hotel for Budget, Des Milles Collins Hotel for Mid-range, Kigali Serena Hotel for Luxury.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park, En-route Activities
After a morning breakfast on the second day of your 10 Days Rwanda Safari, you will transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. along the way you will pass through wonderful and magnificent hills and farmlands of the countryside. Have a stopover at the Royal King’s Palace in Nyanza for a cultural tour and learn more about the history of Rwanda. Continue and visit the cultural museum at Rwesero, proceed and reach Butare Town where you will have lunch, later visit the Rwanda National Museum for a tour around the site.
Then proceed to Nyungwe Forest where you will arrive in the late afternoon hours, check in at the lodge, relax as you look forward to an amazing experience the next day. Dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Visitor’s Centre for Budget, Nyungwe TopHill View for Mid-range, Kivu Marina Bay for Luxury.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking Experience
You will have an early morning breakfast then report to the park headquarters in Nyungwe Forest for briefing before going for chimpanzee tracking, however it is advisable to go with packed lunch and plenty of water prior to this expedition since it can sometimes last over 6 hours. In the forest, you will not only see chimpanzee. You will also see variety of animals and birds like the Rwenzori Turaco, white casqued horn bill, black and white colobus monkeys among others. Return late in the afternoon and to your lodge for dinner and overnight as above.
Day 4: Relaxed Morning, Afternoon Canopy Walk
Wake up at leisure and enjoy breakfast at the lodge, spend the morning at leisure at the lodge and make use of the pool area or spa if you wish. Lounge in the lodge area. Enjoy lunch and then head out ad embark on a canopy walk, a metallic bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you, then drive back to your lodge to spend the evening at leisure.

Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Evening Iby’Iwacu Experience
Have early breakfast and then after, you will check out of your lodge and later transfer to Ruhengeri. En route you will visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village where you may have a wonderful and interactive experience about the Rwandan traditions, culture and way of life. Continue to the park reaching in the late evening.

Day 6: Golden Monkey tracking
After breakfast on the sixth day of your 10 Days Rwanda Safari, you will head to Virunga Forests for golden monkey tracking. You will meet other visitors at the park headquarters for briefing then head into the forests look for the golden monkeys, when you locate these beautiful creatures. You will enjoy watching them play in the bamboo trees and picking shoots to eat, you are allowed to take as many photos as possible.
Later return to your lodge, have early lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure, relaxing at your lodge. You can take a city walk in the evening around Ruhengeri. Dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Parc National Des Volcans
The seventh of this 10 days Rwanda Safari highlights a gorilla trekking activity, early in the morning after breakfast and briefing from the Rwanda Development Board officials. Set off for the gorilla trekking in the misty forests of Volcanoes National Park, this experience is a once in a lifetime adventure.
The rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search for the gorillas, you will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with the way they go on with their live in the forest which is so similar to humans. The gorilla trekking experience takes approximately 3-5 hours with one hour of being in the presence of the gorillas.
En-route, you will catch sight of a lot of other types of primates that you can spot such as the monkeys as well as birds and so more. Return to the lodge for lunch and relax for the rest of the afternoon. Have dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 8: Transfer back to Kigali and to Akagera National Park &Afternoon Game Drive
After breakfast on the eighth day of your 10 Days Rwanda Safari, you will depart for Kigali for lunch and also a short city tour to the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site. You will later transfer to Akagera National Park, en route you will pass through the country’s phenomenal landscape which will give you views of the country’s beauty and also the life style of its people.
Upon arrival in the park, you will go for an afternoon game drive in the southern section of the park, look out for animals such as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles and many more like antelopes. Dinner and overnight at Karenge Bush Camp for Budget, Akagera Game Lodge for Mid-range, Rusizi Tented Lodge for Luxury.
Day 9: Morning game drive and Boat ride on Lake Ihema
The ninth day of this 10 Days Rwanda Safari highlights more activities in Akagera National Park, early in the morning after breakfast. You will go for a Northern Circuit game drive in search for animals that you might have missed out in the previous game drive. It was not a guarantee that all the animals can be seen in the evening game drive.
There are some that are early risers and can only be seen in the morning, return back to the lodge for a small relaxation as you wait for lunch. After lunch, you will go for a boat ride on Lake Ihema which will offer you with views of the surrounding areas, hills and swamps. Expect to see hippos, crocodiles and more bird species. Return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 10: Transfer back to Kigali and Departure
Early morning after breakfast on the last day of 10 days Rwanda Safari, you will go for nature walk to search for different bird species. Return to Kigali City, depending on your time of departure, you will be transferred to the Airport for your flight back home or your hotel in Kigali as you will advise.
