Detailed itinerary of 7 Days Wildebeest Migration Safari: Maasai Mara & Serengeti
Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Park
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide who will brief you about the entire Wildebeest Migration Safari. Then embark on a journey to Maasai Mara National Park, you will have en-route stopover in Narok Town for an interaction with the local Maasai people and at the Rift Valley View point for spectacular views of the Rift Valley Escarpments.
Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge, return for an afternoon game drive exploring the reserve more. Return for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2-3: Game Drive in Mara North Conservancy
You will spend two days in Mara North Conservancy exploring the endless savannah plains and following the great wildebeest migration. You will start the day with an early morning game drive to catch the first glimpse of the sunrise and take memorable pictures.
On game drives you will discover the wildlife in the Mara North Conservancy, you can choose to pack your lunch and go for a full day game drive and have a picnic lunch in the wild or opt to go on several game drives at different times during the day with a return to the lodge or camp for a hot lunch. Continue following the wildebeest migration till sunset, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and embark on a journey to Serengeti National Park with border crossing at Isebania Border. After completing all the formalities with the immigration, you will join our Tanzania Guide and continue to Serengeti National Park with en-lunch.
With en-route game drive in Serengeti Plains, head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Great Migration Game Drives in Serengeti
Spend the whole exploring the endless Serengeti National Park following the Great Wildebeest Migration’s large columns of wildebeest as they graze. The Great Migration is the largest overland migration in the world, with wildlife traveling a total of 800 km or more during each cycle. Witnessing the Great Migration is truly awe inspiring, this spectacle vividly demonstrates survival of the fittest as each wildebeest strives to cross the river and survive while crocodiles rely on them for sustenance.
Day 6: Morning game drive following the migration – Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater
After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area with en-route game drive in the Serengeti Plains. You will arrive in Ngorongoro in time for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a guided walk on Ngorongoro Crater rim, enjoy close encounters with giraffes, zebras, gazelles among others.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive and Departure
Have an early breakfast and descend to the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive, the Ngorongoro Crater is home to a huge concentration of wildlife and during the game drive lookout for several wildlife including zebras, gazelles, lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, wildebeests, giraffes, hartebeests, rhinos among others. You will also visit Lake Magadi in the corner of Ngorongoro crater, here you will see large concentrations of flamingoes and cormorants.
After the game drive, you will enjoy lunch and then embark on a journey back to Arusha where you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home.
