Volcanoes national park is a primate destination found in the far northwest of Rwanda, the park is part of the Great Virunga Conservation Area spanning to cover the Virunga massifs in Uganda, Rwanda and DR.Congo.
This Rwanda safari starts and ends in Kigali City – the capital city of Rwanda.

Detailed itinerary of 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Golden Monkey Trekking safari
Day 1: Kigali City Tour – Transfer to Volcanoes national park
After morning breakfast at your hotel in Kigali City or upon arrival at Kigali International airport, you will be picked up by your safari driver guide and after briefing you about the Rwanda safari and what to expect. You will proceed to Kigali City for a city tour to Genocide Memorial Museum, you will also visit some markets in the city.
After lunch, you will transfer to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri arriving in the evening, you can go for a visit to the beautiful twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 2: gorilla trekking adventure
On the 2nd day of your 3 days Rwanda gorillas and golden monkey trekking safari, Have early morning breakfast and with packed lunch you will head to the park’s headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about the dos and don’ts while in the presence of mountain gorillas, be assigned a gorilla group to trek and then with armed rangers and guide you will trek into the forests of volcanoes in search for mountain gorillas.
Gorilla monkey trekking takes approximately 2 to 7 hours depending the movement of the gorillas, the gorilla family you are trekking and their movement. When you locate them, you will be allowed to stay in their presence for 1 hour which observing their behavior and characters which are similar to humans and take pictures.
You will then head back to the park’s headquarters where you will be rewarded with gorilla trekking certificates, then head to your lodge for an evening of rest.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking – Departure
Have breakfast and drive to Volcanoes national park for the golden monkey trekking experience, you will be briefed about the rules and regulations to follow during the trek and while in the presence of playful golden monkey. When you encounter the golden monkeys, you will spend one hour in their presence while taking pictures and watching them as they play on tree branches and pick fruits.
After the experience, you will return to your lodge for lunch, then checkout and drive back to Kigali city for a dropoff either at the hotel or at the airport.
