Detailed itinerary of 7 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Chimp
Day 1: Kigali
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our representative at the airport arrival section and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 – Kigali/Nyungwe Forest National Park
Have breakfast at the hotel, drive south for a visit of the historical towns of Nyanza and Butare. Visit the Nyanza Kings Palace and the Huye ethnographic Museum. Lunch en route, arrive in the park in the evening and proceed to your lodge.

Day 3 – Explore Nyungwe Forest National Park – Chimpanzee Trek
Start early wit breakfast and head to the park for chimpanzee trekking experience, as you trek through the forest you will be able to see other primate species in the forest including olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys and several bird species. On locating the chimpanzees, you are allowed to stay in their presence for one hour watching them go on with their life in the forest.
Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy the canopy walk. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Nyungwe Forest National Park – Lake Kivu
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge and embark on a journey to Lake Kivu with lunch en route. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure on the shores of the beautiful lake with several optional activities included such as canoeing.

Day 5 – Lake Kivu/Volcanoes National Park
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, depart on a scenic drive towards Volcanoes National Park. Arrive at Ruhengeri, base for Gorilla Trekking at Volcanoes National Park, the town is located only 25 km from Uganda border and is relatively a small city of about 70,000 people. The town has great views of the surrounding volcanoes, people are very friendly here and although a former Belgian Colony (and thus French- speaking), many people speak English here. It is an approximately 2.5 hours from Kigali to the Volcanoes National Park.
Spend the afternoon visiting the Magical twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.

Day 6 – Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla Trek
Wake up early for breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking, in groups of 8 people you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and head into the mist forest. The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.
When you locate the gorillas you are allowed to spend only one hour watching them go on with their life in the forest, watch them groom and take amazing pictures. After the trek, rejoin your Driver Guide for a transfer to your lodge for lunch. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 7 – Kigali
After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and drive back to Kigali City where you will have a short Kigali City Tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial Site where you will learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide.
After lunch, you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home. Bringing your safari to an end.
