Detailed itinerary of 4 Days Uganda Safari – gorilla trekking and wildlife viewing safari

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/ Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth national park and have a relaxing evening cruise on Kazinga Channel

After breakfast at your hotel or place of stay in Kampala or upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked up by your driver guide to start your gorilla trek and wildlife safari. You will embark on a 420 kilometers (6-7 hours’ drive) to Queen Elizabeth national park – the most prominent park in Uganda hosting over 95 species of mammals including 4 members of the African Safari 5 big Five.

You will drive towards the west and make a spot at Kayabwe for incredible equator experiments and photoshoots at the Uganda equator crossing Monument. You will proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park via beautiful countryside of scenic tea and banana plantations, on reaching you will check in at your lodge, have lunch and embark on a 2 hours boat cruise on Kazinga Channel starting at 2 pm. While on a cruise, you will spot over 100s of hippos submerged in water, uncountable crocodiles basking along the edges of the channel, elephants bathing and hippos wallowing in the mud. You will also spot over 100 bird species including saddle billed stocks, pelicans, cormorant’s storks among others. After the experience, you will drive back to your lodge on an evening game drives where you will spot Uganda Kobs, bushbucks, waterbucks, topis, warthogs among others. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drive in Kasenyi sector, then proceed to Bwindi via Ishasha sector in search for tree climbing lions

After breakfast at around 07:00 am, you will embark on a 160 kilometers (4-7 drive) to Bwindi impenetrable national park via Ishasha sector in the south of Queen Elizabeth national park in search of the famous tree climbing lions. During the drive you will spot these mysterious creatures comfortably lying on the branches of the fig trees.

You will continue driving through the rolling hills of the southwestern Uganda to Bwindi impenetrable national park.

Bwindi is a tropical rainforest wonderland declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994, the forested park is a home for almost 50% of the 1,063 mountain gorillas on earth, over 350 bird species including the 23 Albertine endemics and 120 mammal species. You will arrive at your lodge in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: gorilla trekking in Bwindi and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation, boat cruise and a community tour 

Have an early breakfast, transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park headquarters with your packed lunch for a memorable lifetime adventure – gorilla trekking. At 08:00 am, you will have briefing and also get allocated the gorilla family to track.

Bwindi impenetrable national park hosts over 19 habituated gorilla families each visited by 8 tourists, after briefing you will embark on a challenging trek for 2-8 hours in search for mountain gorillas . After locating the gorillas, you will spend one magical hour watching them communicating, feeding, grooming and marveling at the amazing size of the silverback and other gorillas.

After the trek, you will return to the starting point to receive your gorilla trekking certificate, enjoy your packed picnic lunch and depart for Lake Bunyonyi. On arrival, you will embark on a boat cruise to explore the 2nd deepest lake in Africa with over 29 islands. Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4:  Transfer to Kampala/ Entebbe via the Uganda Equator Line

After breakfast, you will transfer to Kampala via Mbarara and settle at Igongo Cultural Center for lunch – delicious traditional dish. You can alsovisit the cultural museum here and them embark on a journey to Kampala. You will have another stopover at the Equator for more photos and buy a souvenir. When you arrive in Kampala, you will be dropped off either at your hotel or at the airport for your departure flight back home.
