5 Days Kibale, Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi Safari : This 5 days Uganda safari is a fascinating tour taking you on an adventure to two of the most popular primate destinations in Uganda, Kibale National Park – the primate capital of Africa and a home to the biggest population of chimpanzees in Africa. Another primate destination to visit is Bwindi impenetrable national park a home to the endangered mountain gorillas and hosts to biggest population of gorillas in the world.

In addition to chimpanzees and mountain gorillas, you will also spot black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, red tailed monkeys, baboons and many birds. After a safari visit to Kibale National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable national park, you will relax at Lake Bunyonyi where you will engage in interesting activities like canoeing on Lake Bunyonyi – the deepest lake in Uganda and the second deepest in AFRICA.

DETAILED ITINERARY OF 5 DAYS KIBALE, BWINDI AND LAKE BUNYONYI SAFARI

Day 1: pick up and transfer to Kibale Forest national park – chimpanzee trekking

You will be picked from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe by a representative of Explore Eco Safaris, your safari driver guide early in the morning and the start the journey to Kibale Forest national park located in Western Uganda a journey of 5 to 6 hours. Arrive in the park in time for lunch after check in, in the afternoon you will head to the Kanyachu park headquarters for briefing and allocation of an experienced guide. Then trek in to the forests of Kibale looking for chimpanzees, the trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because of the movement in search for food.

During the trek, you will be able to spot primates like L’hoest monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, several bird species among others. When you locate the chimpanzees you will be allowed one hour with then in their environment watching them feed, play, fight, hunt, rest and observe their behaviors, take photos and record videos. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge, meet with your driver guide and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park, on the way you will have en-route lunch and enjoy great views of the beautiful landscape, countryside, Kigezi hills the Switzerland of Africa and terraced farmlands among others. On arrival in Bwindi,  you will check –in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: gorilla trekking in Bwindi

Have an early breakfast and drive to the park’s headquarters for briefing, a senior ranger will take you through rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking, be allocated a gorilla family to trek and in groups of 8 people you will head into the forests looking for the gorillas. The trek takes about 2 to 7 hours depending on the gorilla family you are trekking and where it spent its previous night, on the trek you will spot many birds species and other primates such as olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys among others.

When you locate the gorilla family, you will spend one hour with them in their natural habitat giving you an opportunity to observe their behaviors, watch them carry on with their daily activities like feeding, playing, breast feeding, grooming the young ones, take photos and videos. Drive back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge, exit the park and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi the deepest lake in Uganda, the journey takes approximately 4 hours and you will arrive in the park in time for lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a boat ride on which you will be able to explore the 29 islands found in the lake including the punishment island where girls who got pregnant before marriage where abandoned for death. Return to the lodge for diner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Departure

On the 5th day of your 5 Days Kibale, Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi Safari, After a relaxed breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and transfer back to Kampala, along the way you will have en-route lunch in Mbarara town and continue the journey to Kampala arriving in the afternoon. You will be drop off at Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home or any place of choice in Kampala or Entebbe
