Detailed itinerary of 4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking in Uganda and Rwanda
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali, city tour and transfer to Bwindi Forest
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide. Head for a half day tour of Kigali City visiting souvenir shops, the former presidential palace, the genocide memorial Centre and the main city market.
After the city tour, you will start the 4 hour journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the amazing countryside of Rwanda dominated by rolling hills and plantations. After clearing with immigration and Cyanika Border, you will cross over to Uganda and head to your lodge in Bwindi.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
Wake early for breakfast, meet your guide and head for briefing at the park offices, the briefing is conducted by the head guide at 7:00 am and is basically about how to conduct yourself while with the gorillas or what to bring along during the gorilla trekking.
You will be assigned a gorilla group and given an opportunity to hire porters. The allocation of gorilla groups is based on your general fitness. Some gorilla groups move deep into the forest and require more trekking hours hence more challenges. After knowing your group, you should now head to the forest to look for mountain gorillas.
When you locate the gorillas you are allowed one hour watching them go on with their life in the forest, with a good camera you will take amazing pictures. Then head back to the starting point where you will meet our guide to take you back to the lodge for lunch and rest.
In the afternoon, you will be taken to visit the Batwa Pygmy Community living near the park. The Batwa were the original inhabitants of the Bwindi Forest but were relocated outside the park when it was gazetted a protected area. You will get to learn a lot about their culture while also being entertained by traditional dance groups.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Visit the Gorilla Guardians Village
Have breakfast, checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey to Volcanoes National Park with border crossing at Cyanika Border. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge after checking in. In the afternoon you will go for a visit to the Gorilla Guardian’s Village.
Formerly known as the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, the Centre started as a place where former poachers would sell souvenir to tourists. The government revamped the site and turned it into one of the best cultural centres in East Africa. You will spend the afternoon watching traditional dance performers or dress up in the traditional robes for photos.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & Departure
Wake up very early for breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about the dos and don’t’s while in the forest and presence of mountain gorillas. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, enter into the misty forests of Volcanoes National Park looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night, you are allowed to spend only one hour watching them go on with their life in the forest.
Later trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and head to your lodge for lunch. You will later transfer back to Kigali City where you will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport for departure flight back home.
