3 days gorilla safari Rwanda is a great Rwanda gorilla safari taking on an adventure in the jungle of VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, a home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Volcanoes national park is part of the Virunga Conservation Area hosting the second population of Mountain gorillas in the world. The park is a home to over 400 mountain gorillas with several habituated gorilla families and on this experience you will visit one of these amazing families.

DETAILED ITINERARY OF 3 DAYS GORILLA SAFARI RWANDA

Day 1: Arrive in Rwanda- Volcanoes National Park
On arrival in Rwanda at Kigali international Airport in Kigali City, you will be picked up by your safari driver-guide and after a short safari briefing you will drive northwards heading to Volcanoes national park (Parc des National) which is a drive of approximately 2-3 hours.

If you arrive early, you have a city tour on which you will be able to visit the National Museum or the Genocide Memorial center, have lunch and then proceed to the park arriving in the afternoon. Rest at the lodge as you prepare for tomorrow activity. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park– Gorilla trekking-Twin lakes visit/ Community walk

Have early breakfast at your lodge and head to the park’s Kinigi Headquarters for briefing by 08:00 am, the ranger will take you through the rules and regulations to follow and how to behave while in the presence of the mountain gorillas.

Mountain gorilla trekking is an amazing adventure involving hiking through the slippery and rugged terrain of the park, it takes approximately 1 – 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.

After finding the gorillas, you are allowed to stay in their presence for 1 hour while taking pictures and observing their behavior, you can take pictures as long as your flashlight is off. While trekking through the forests of Volcanoes national park you will be able to see other forest creatures such as golden monkeys, elephants, buffaloes and many birds.

 

Then trek back to the park’s headquarters and head to your lodge for lunch, in the afternoon you will either have a visit to the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo or have a walk in the community and watch traditional dances of the locals. Return to your dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Departure

Wake up early for breakfast, checkout of your lodge and transfer to Kigali City where you will have a short time shopping from local markets, you can buy souvenirs. You can also visit the pottery project and the Franco – Rwandan cultural center.

Have lunch and transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
