3 days Mgahinga gorilla safari is a mind-blowing gorilla trekking safari offering you an encounter with the rare mountain gorillas of Mgahinga national park located in the South Western Uganda, Kisoro district. Mountain gorillas are one of the biggest reasons to visit Uganda and Mgahinga gorilla national park is one of the 2 national parks to find them in Uganda.
The park has one habituated gorilla group that is Nyakagezi which tends to move around most of the times and consists of 9 members.
Mgahinga gorilla national park is also a home to the rare Golden Monkeys, buffalos, forest elephants, leopards, jackals, bush pigs, duikers, and bushbucks. The park is also a great birding destination hosting about 178 to 184 bird species.

Detailed itinerary of 3 days Mgahinga gorilla safari
Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Have early breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, then you will be picked up by your safari driver-guide and after a short safari briefing you will embark on a journey to Mgahinga gorilla national park of 8-9 hours. Along the way you will have stopovers at the equator for pictures and in Mbarara for lunch and proceed to the park arriving in the evening. Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Have early breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing which is conducted by the ranger guides taking you through the rules and regulations to follow during the trekking and while in the presence of the gorillas.
Trek into the forests of Mgahinga looking for mountain gorillas of the Nyakagezi gorilla group, you will spend some good hours looking for this gorilla family since its movement is unpredicted by the rangers.
When you find the gorillas, you will spend one hour in their presence while observing their behavior, watch them play on trees and take amazing pictures as long as your flashlight is off. After the experience you will return to your lodge for relaxation, have dinner and stay overnight. .
Day 3: Transfer to Kampala
Have early morning breakfast, checkout of your lodge and transfer back to Kampala, when you reach Kampala, you will be dropped off either at the hotel or at the airport for your departure flight back home.
